Four quick steps

Get your customer ID, export the PNG as TGA, name it correctly, then copy it into the iRacing paint folder.

Step 1

Get your customer ID

You only need this once to build the correct local paint filename.

  • Open your iRacing Profile and copy your customer ID.
  • Run the car once if needed so iRacing creates its paint folder.

Step 2

Export the TGA

iRacing reads a TGA file instead of the original PNG.

  • Open the PNG in Paint.NET, Photoshop, GIMP, or similar.
  • Use Save As and export a 24-bit TGA with RLE enabled.

Step 3

Name and copy the file

The filename and folder both matter for iRacing to detect the paint.

  • Name it car_YourCustomerId.tga.
  • Copy it into the correct car folder inside Documents\iRacing\paint.

Step 4

Reload it in sim

The local file is enough for your own PC. Sharing is a separate step.

  • Launch the same car. If the sim is already open, press Ctrl + R after re-saving the file.
  • To share the paint online, upload it to Trading Paints and run Trading Paints Downloader.
